The APPSC Group – 1 Examination is structured in three distinct stages:
1) Preliminary Examination: The Preliminary Examination serves as a screening test to shortlist candidates for the subsequent stage of the examination. It comprises one objective type paper. Minimum qualifying marks are established for candidates falling under reservation categories.

The General English paper is of a qualifying nature, with its marks not counted for final ranking. Candidates have the option to answer question papers in English, Telugu, or Urdu. Minimum qualifying marks are set for candidates eligible for reservation.
